Cherie King is on a mission . . . a mission to help others get healthier and as closely back-to-nature as possible. This is accomplished through a variety of venues: natural hair and natural eating.
Natural Hair Side:
I have always had an interest in hair care. It began with piddling around with the hair of family and close friends and eventually led to my becoming a licensed Cosmetologist. I practiced in that field for seven years then I stopped. Later I began my own quest for the ultimate healthy head of hair and decided to no longer chemically process it in order to straighten it. Research and personal experience led me to feel very strongly about African American women learning to embrace and appreciate their natural hair and try and get them to plant a different seed in their own daughters instead of the same seeds of hatred towards nappy hair that were instilled in many of us. You can read my personal story of my transition from relaxed hair to natural hair at http://naturalfreedomjourney.com.
My experience both as an Internet Marketer and a hair care provider combined is what encouraged me to begin writing and publishing my own e-books. I express a sincere desire to help women become self-sufficient when it comes to hair care for themselves and their daughters and that is what my series of e-books is all about! I also have a website http://kidznlocs.com dedicated to children with locked hair and there are photos and featured kids.
Natural Health Side:
Like most of us, I come from a family that have a history of diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, renal failure, and more. People often say "it runs in the family" but if they were to really examine the situation they'd discover that not only do the illness "run in the family" but so do the patterns of eating. Momma is cooking the same foods that Grandma cooks and she cooks what her mama cooked. I decided after doing some research to break the cycle not only for myself but also for my children and their children and so forth. I began eating a raw and living foods diet and it has changed - my - LIFE! I believe that everyone, especially MY people, needs to at least begin releasing some of the processed "foods" and animal products from their diets and replace them with LIVING food . . . foods that God actually created and that feed us on a cellular level. I teach raw and living foods classes in the Washington State (not D.C.) area and I have two websites where my sista-friend and I are in the process of writing a Raw and Living SOUL-Food recipe book so we can show our people that they can still have their greens, cornbread, sweet potato pie, peach cobbler and more, but, without the guilt and without the dis-ease and the excess weight!
