Gaining too much weight during pregnancy is one of the greatest fears
of pregnant women (apart from the baby's health, of course). It is true
that many women do gain a lot of weight during their pregnancy and some
have a hard time to lose it after delivery.
In their fear and despair, many women turn to diet pills and
other dietary supplements in the hope that this will assist them in
keeping their weight gain to a healthy minimum.
But should you take diet pills and start a pregnancy diet? Are they
safe for you? Are they safe for your baby?
First of all, you have to realize that what may be good for you in
normal times may be bad for you while you're pregnant. It's a whole
different ball game as your body is hormonally different. Some diet
pills have explicit warnings on their label that prohibit pregnant
women from taking them, but others don't. Simply because there isn't a
warning doesn't mean that it's safe. The best thing to do is to not
take any diet pills without first consulting your doctor(the same as
fertility pills, to a word). I'm not saying that every diet pill is
bad. Some have exceptional results. But while you're pregnant, it is
best not to take any chances, there are far too mush pregnancy risks
except this one. And forget about any kind of over the counter pills!
Second, you have to remember this: whatever you put into your body,
whether it's food, alcohol, cigarette smoke, medication, anything at
all, also goes to your baby. Do you really think your baby needs diet
pills? I think not. You may be endangering your baby with these pills,
so do not use them. And in general, don't forget to keep your pregnancy
healthy diet.
The truth is that you you don't need diet pills in order to maintain a
healthy weight gain during pregnancy. Follow a healthy pregnancy diet
and do moderate exercises which are appropriate for pregnant women and
you can be sexy and beautiful throughout your pregnancy. It's better to
pay all your attention to pregnancy health care.
